- Hi all!
-
- I'm having a small problem. I pulled a 40meg HD from an old
- (7.5 years old) Digital PDP-11 and am trying to get it to work
- on a friend's 286 pc/xt. He has a 10meg HD already and it is made by
- IBM. This drive is made by Quantum and all of the connections are EXACTLY
- the same as the IBM one. It looks exactly the same, the front panel is the
- same, the power connection, 34 pin plug, 20 pin plug etc is all EXACTLY
- the same. The problem is, when i plug it up to the HD controller card
- the FDISK program on msdos 3.1 does not recognize any fixed disks.
- Can anyone suggest a solution? Would i have to get the manual for this
- drive or something to get it to work? Do they put different controller
- boards on the hard drive to work with specific computers?
