- Well, I finally got a tape drive for my 386, so I can knock down
- my total number of floppies. It's a Colorado Systems Jumbo 250, and I'm
- using 3M DC-2120s in it. So far, I've been pretty happy with it. The
- install time was about twenty minutes, and it probably would've been shorter
- if I'd checked out the manuals first. My only problem is that when I
- formatted my first tape, the software told me that I only had about 115.5M
- on the tape, rather than the 120 or so I expected. The second tape gave me
- a little more, around 118.8 or so, but still below par. The software does
- not tell me anything about bad blocks (lousy software). Any idea what I
- might be doing wrong?
-
- Also, a friend of mine is thinking of writing some utilities for
- tape drives. Does anyone know of any shareware (or freeware) utilities
- that exist, or failing that, where I might be able to obtain QIC-117 (or
- QIC-115) info?
-
- Thanks,
-
