- I got some new hardware for my PC for Christmas this morning. An ESDI
- hard drive and a controller card for it. The hardware is used, and
- unfortunately didn't come with any instruction manuals.
-
- Since the card came with cables, it wasn't hard to figure out how to
- connect it to the drive (Pin 1 is clearly marked), and the floppy. The
- system now boots up and recognizes the floppy drive just fine. But I'm
- getting nowhere with the hard drive.
-
- There are a multitude of configuration jumpers present on the board. I've
- played around with a few of them, in the hopes of activating the on-board
- ROM so I can run the hard drive setup utility which should be present there.
- No luck so far.
-
- If anyone has the manual for one of these cards, or knows how to set one
- up, I'd appreciate any pointers you might be able to provide. Shooting in
- the dark for hours on end as I've been doing so far gets frustrating real
- fast... I think all I need to know is how to activate the ROM present on
- the card and the address of the setup utility in the ROM so I can execute
- it from the debug utility.
-
- Happy Holidays.
