- I'm looking for a disk benchmark program that will give
- me "real" hard drive transfer rate measurements. I have the
- latest Coretest but I find the results I get from it are a
- little hard to believe. With my Micronics 486-33 VL-BUS and
- an UltraStor 34F VL-BUS Fast SCSI-II Host Adapter
-
- controlling a Quantum 240S, I was getting HDTR of over
- 25 MB/sec! At the end of the test, I of course received
- the message that the rates were inaccurate because of
- caching. This must be due to the built in 256K Cache the
- Quantum drive has on it.
-
- I've also tried Norton 6.02's SI and got over 1.4 MB/sec.
- After the test I got a "controller blocking" something
- something message. Pc Tools 7.1's SI gave me close to 1.2
- MB/sec.
-
- I have heard of a benchmark called BYTE. Will this puppy do
- the trick? If so can someone direct me to an ftp site and
- directory where I can find it?
-
- Thanks.
