- This is very machine dependent. IBM XT supplies work from 90-137 Vac and
- 47-63 Hz. Check the specifications for your portable.

- Trying to operate close to the limit will be a constant source of
- trouble, usually machine hangups and/or scrambled FAT's on your discs.
- You want a 10-volt margin, so you want the machine to run down to 90 Vac
- or you want a transformer to bring the voltage up about ten volts.

- Transformers are available at electronic supply houses that provide both
- isolation and voltage adjustment. If you are going to use the
- transformer at 50 Hz, get one that can withstand (60/50)*110 volts when
- running at 60 Hz so it won't saturate. (That's about 125 Vac)
