- I read this ad in PC week about a device that's the end-all-be-all of
- power surge protectors for computers. I can't remember the name but the
- surge protector has a readout of the current voltage level on the AC line,
- outlets and on/off switches for computer, monitor, printer, and two
- auxileries. It also has a telephone surge protector for modems.
-
- Now, this ad insists that this device assures that a constant AC voltage
- is always delivered to your computer, free of even the smallest spikes.
- They also stated that it is these small spikes that constantly chip away
- at your computer and decreases its lifespan. That's what leads to hard
- drive crashes, memory malfunctions, and floppy failures.
-
- If there is definite truth behind what they state and their device does
- what it says, then it seems to me that their device would be the best
- thing to get for your computer.
-
- Anyone experienced with surge protectors that can comment on this?
