- Well, I just installed my GUS about 20 minutes ago. UPGRADED it from a SBPro,
- which was upgraded from an SB. And i'll tell you, just from my limited
- experience, it blows SBPro out of the water.
-
- AND YES, it does support DAC (Speech), Ren Hoek sounds as lively as he ever did
- when booting into Windows. :) (The setup program for my GUS also has nice
- speech in it.)
-
- And the GUS sounds better because it uses REAL instruments, and manipulates
- the pitch etc..
-
- "FM synthesis creates an instrument by frequency modulating one waveform againtsanother to produce the sound of the desired instrument.
- Variables like wave shape, wave form, modulation etc. are manipulated
- until it sounds good. ..." UltraSound Manual.
-
- Thus SBPro/SB/Adlib/ProAudioSpectrum16/etc use FM technology. If you still
- want to believe that there's no difference, then that's your choice.
