  14. Well I finally installed the MiNT distribution kit.  I had to do it 
  15. manually.  I think that I had the MINIX file system working too.  I 
  16. placed the file "MINIX.XFS" in the root directory of my boot drive "C:\"
  17. and I got the message that the MINIX file system was active.
  18.  
  19. I then wipe everything about under normal TOS by simply copying a 
  20. file to the partition that stores the MINIX partition.
  21.  
  22. My questions are:

  24.    What do I do to prevent TOS writing onto the MINIX file system when
  25. MiNT is not active?
  26.  
  27.    I am supposed to be able to make large file names with MiNT and MINIX?
  28. I could'nt find a UNIX like program that would let me have more than the
  29. TOS sized file names.  When I did "touch thisisamintfile" the system locked
  30. up.  No error messages.  Maybe the program could be slow, but I waited about
  31. 10 minutes for it to complete.  I thought that "touch" would be extremely 
  32. fast.

  34.    Use the ICDFMT.PRG partition program, what should I set in the "TYPE"
  35. field.  I know that in real MINIX I should somehow make the partition
  36. unavailable to TOS only.  How do I make a partition MiNT accessable and
  37. not TOS accessable?

  39. System Information: TOS 1.0 / 4Mb RAM / 193 Mbyte hard drive / ICD controller
  40. / 1 embedded SCSI drive / 1 Adaptec RLL drive / Empty AUTO folder / No 
  41. Accessories except TOSWIN when running MiNT

  43. Does anyone know is TOS 2.06 is a good system for running MiNT?  I want
  44. to either get TOS 2.06 or NeoDesk 3.x.  My TOS 1.0 and NeoDesk 2.05 
  45. combination just doesn't cut it.

  47. Does anyone know is Universal Item Selector III is supposed to work with
  48. MiNT?  I have tried many kinds of AUTO folder combinations to get UIS III
  49. to work, but the configuration usually bombs upon the first call of the
  50. Item Selector.
