  10. Well, people... I just downloaded compress.arc like everyone suggested.  I am
  11. having problems getting it to run.

  13. The program itself had a .prg extender, so I just run it... it just "hung." 
  14. Then I renamed it to compres.ttp and passed "filename.ext" to it like it said
  15. in the instructions.  It gave back "filename.ext.Z already exists; Not
  16. overwritten." and just "hung" again.  Then I chopped off the extender and
  17. passed just "filename" and no messages... just hung there.  I assume it crashed
  18. since the file was only 900 bytes, and I could not even get a keyclick... a
  19. sure sign of a crash.

  21. Then I thought it might be NeoDesk and went back to regular desktop.  Same
  22. thing happened.

  24. Then I chucked the GEM altogether and tried a CLI (PCommand.prg) and typed the
  25. command "compress filename.ext" and the same thing happened.

  27. Is this an old version?  Should I be getting compress LZH or ZOO?
