- One of the best selling Soundcards on PC are the SoundBlaster 3 and 4.
- Both claim to be able of doing samples with 25kHz or more - that does
- not matter. Fact is:
-
- SoundBlaster 3 cuts of frequencies at about 6kHz (at least they are
- down 10 db!). SoundBlaster 4 does the same at about 10 kHz.
- They may need as much RAM for their samples as for 44.1kHz, but they sound like
- using only 6kHz.
-
- I'm only quoting c't. This sould be a good source for information.
-
- Certainly there are also some good cards, like the one for about DM 1500
- using a DSP and M68000. The problem is: It is as expensive as the
- whole FALCON :-)
-
- The cheap cards are also not able to do harddisk recording and I don't
- think they have DMA access to the RAM, to a DSP and so on. And you
- won't find build-in DOS routines for using theses cards easyly.
