- WEll, it was amusing the first fifty times he's said it, but it's getting less
- and less amusing.
-
- For the record:
-
- I do not produce software or hardware for the Atari ST. I *have* several
- software projects I'd like to do, but working 70+ hours a week does not leave
- me with time to sit down and write the programs. I *do* support Atari ST users
- through our local user group, and have done so consistently for the past six
- years. I maintain an ST-oriented DOM library, and have been an officer in the
- local user group for five years. I was the newsletter editor for the group for
- several years as well. I purchased a 1040ST in September 1986, and a Mega4 ST
- in March of 1989. I wrote a series of articles on programming in OSS Personal
- Pascal, back when it was still a viable language.
-
- I've been doing my share to support Atari ST =users= for quite some time now,
- even though I don't happen to take money for my services.
-
- I have owned my own computer-software business. It did well enough to get me
- through graduate school. Over the years, I've had my share of meetings and
- interviews with clients. I feel that experience can be transferred to any sort
- of business meetings I might have in the future. I know how to conduct myself
- with troublesome clients, how to set up an agenda for a business meeting, how
- to discern when a meeting is not going to be fruitful, and when to walk away.
-
- I don't recommend Atari computers to everyone I meet. I don't think about the
- Tramiel family on a daily basis. I don't have a reason to hate Atari
- Corporation, nor a reason to love Atari Corporation. I feel comfortable using
- their computers. Once my house is built, I plan on purchasing a Falcon, not
- from any loyalty to Atari Corporation, but because I know what to expect from
- their computer systems. I also know what else is available -- currently I have
- access to most of the Macintosh line (with the exception of the Quadra), as
- well as to standard 486DX-33 Intel machines with $800 monitors. Not to mention
- the minicomputers and workstations we have which run circles around the smaller
- micros. I even have a copy of the book _Build_Your_Own_486/486SX_and_Save_
- _a_Bundle_.
-
- It's a pity that Michael Vederman couldn't keep Double-Click together. Then
- again, there is more to the non-release of GW than a single visit to Sunnyvale.
- DC was operated by several folks, and unless one of them wants to speak up
- about the turmoils within the business (for which I only have rumors which I
- won't repeat), we'll never know the entire story.
