- You may well be able to claim that there are excellent operating
- systems for PCs, no problem so far. However, MS DOS, Windows,
- Windows NoThanx etc. are not among them. Regarding Macs, if you
- say their OS is smooth you must have taken a very superficial
- look at it. I agree, the OS "looks and feels" rather neat, but
- beyond that surface there are nightmares and loads of weird stuff
- buried. Beware.
- Also, remember that there are a lot of different things pepole
- may want to do with their computer. If someone just wants to run
- a word processor, a spreadsheet and a graphics program, he can do
- that on a PC running Windows or on a Mac, despite all the horrors
- buried in them. Even more, a Mac or PC may actually suit such a
- person's need better than an Atari. But if someone wants to do
- some programming too, he will probably be much better off with an
- Atari.
-
- What I'd like to point out is, there are problems with all
- systems you can get right now, with Ataris, PCs Macs, Amigas
- etc.etc. That's what life is like. Each system has its strengths,
- and each has its weaknesses. There's no point in making generals
- statements about how great or how rotten the Atari computers are.
- They have their problems and they have their merits, and there
- are enough advantages Ataris have over other systems to justify
- the claim that one can't move to another system without taking
- any sacrifices unless he moves to a system that belongs to
- another league price-wise and performance-wise altogether.
