- This message is to clear up some confusion. Two German magazines have
- published rather bogus reviews of Gemulator because they either didn't wait
- until we shipped them review copies of the product or as in the case of
- ST Magazin, got a total idiot to do the review which ended up being full of
- incorrect statements, including incorrect system requirements, incorrect
- benchmark results, and even listed the wrong price and wrong dealer! The
- price in Germany is not 555 DM and the distributor is NOT Richter. My sources
- indicate that Richter is actually cloning the Gemulator boards and selling
- pirated versions of it. ST Magazin at no time contacted us to verify their
- facts nor did they inform us that they were even reviewing the product!
-
- ST Nieuws magazine in Holland and Computer Paper magazine in Canada have already
- published reviews of the 2.0 product and they give more accurate reviews.
-
- THESE are the facts:
-
- Gemulator is the Atari ST emulator for use on 386/486 DOS based computers that
- provides emulation of color and monochrome screen resolutions, floppy disk
- and hard disk support, printer support, TOS 1.0 1.2 1.4 1.6 and 2.06 support,
- and runs such ST programs as Calamus SL, Pagestream, First Word, Prism Paint,
- Degas Elite, Silhouette, and many others on your DOS or Windows based PC.
-
- Gemulator is available from dealers in the U.S. and Canada. French, German and
- U.K. versions (with French, German, and U.K. TOS 2.06 ROMs respectively)
- will be available at Atari dealers in Europe in January. European users
- need not purchase the North American version since the European prices will
- actually be lower than the current U.S. price of $299.95.
-
- Gemulator has the following features and improvements when compared to
- the version that was reviewed in ST Magazin and Atari Journal:
-
- - full speed ST emulation on a 25 Mhz 486SX (formerly required a 33 Mhz 486DX)
- - emulation on a 386/33 is 2/3 the speed of an ST
- - emulation on a 486/50 or 486/66 is over 2 times the speed of an ST
- - read/write access to multiple partitions on the PC's hard disk
- - requires 4 Mb of PC RAM (formerly 8 Mb)
- - emulates 512K, 1M, 2M, 4M and 8M of ST RAM
- - faster load time due to smaller EXE file size (1.7 meg vs. 2.9 meg before)
- - real time clock support (file timestamps are now correct)
- - smoother and more responsive mouse, and compatible with Maccel 3
- - support for TT medium resolution graphics (640x480 in 16 colors)
- - one keystroke resolution changes between mono and color
- - floppy disk reads are 50% faster than before
- - improved compatibility. Now runs GFA Basic 3.6 and other programs.
- - automatic configuration using INI file
-
- If anyone is aware of pirated versions of Gemulator being sold anywhere,
- please contact us immediately in writing or FAX at 206-885-5893.
