  16. Yes.  There are commerical boards that allow you to plug in the 2.0 ROM
  17. chip inside the A1000.  There is also the Amazing Amiga 2.0 ROM mod.

  19. would be kind enough to email me.  There are a lot of typos in the
  20. A1000 Tech. manual.

  22. I have just spent the last 3 days putting in the 2.0 ROM into my A1000.
  23. I came up with a design which requires reprogramming 2 PAL chips on the
  24. daughterboard (+ cutting 2 traces) and wiring the ROM socket to the CPU
  25. (39 wires for the ROM).  The machine either runs off 2.0 ROM with
  26. daughterboard disabled or boot off with a 1.X kickstart at the flip of a
  27. switch and power up/down.  I am still trying to figure out the PAL
  28. equations to make kickstart ram appear at C00000 so that it will be
  29. available under 2.0.

  31. The hard part of my hack is removing the PAL chips and having access
  32. to a PAL programmer.  I would not recommend this to everyone.

  37. There is a A3000 super kickstart disk.  Since the daughter board on
  38. the A1000 can only handle 256K, it cannot load any 2.X kickstart ROMs
  39. which are 512K.

  46. That depends on the expansion you'll need.  A500 still have the biggest
  47. 3rd party support (A1200 is catching up).  I sticked with the A1000
  48. because I have no $$$$, but then again I can design and build my
  49. peripherals.

  59. New Year's Eve....  I've just finished soldering the 2.0 ROM socket.
