  11. Got a question for everybody:  I bought a used A1000 about a year ago,
  12. and ever since, I've been having occasional trouble printing.  I was
  13. using a virtually incompatible printer for the first couple months,
  14. so I didn't pay much attention to the trouble.  Now my system includes:
  15. A1000 with FastPals, disk-based Kickstart 34.5, Workbench 1.3 version
  16. 34.28, Citizen GSX 140+ running under the C= EpsonQ driver and con-
  17. nected to the parallel port with a homemade gender changer.  I usually
  18. use FinaL Copy II for printing, but have had trouble with other
  19. printing programs, too (DiskMaster, Printfiles, etc.).  It's not that
  20. I CAN'T print, but sometimes it takes more than a dozen tries to get
  21. an error-free copy.

  23. Here's what happens:  I get random dots across the page or lines of
  24. random built-in printer characters (even in FC II final mode). Some-
  25. times it will print a half-line of garbage, then 2-3 blank lines,
  26. then another half-line.  Other times it will print a line of garbage
  27. at the top of a page, form feed, print another line, etc.  Still
  28. other times I'll get halfway through a decent printout and then it'll
  29. start printing garbage.  You get the idea.

  31. I really doubt the problem is Final Copy II, the printer, or the
  32. parallel cable/gender changer.  That leaves the A1000 itself and the
  33. driver software.  Could the parallel signal be getting garbled some-
  34. how?  Is the EpsonQ driver completely compatible?  If anybody has any
  35. idea what might be happening, please reply via EMAIL.  (I'm accessing
  36. Usenet through a long-distance BBS, and don't have the money to check
  37. replies posted to this area.)
