- I was one of the beta testers for the Zeus card. I am currently using it with
- 32MB RAM, 33MHz 68040, 1GB Wren VII, 430MB Seagate fast SCSI-2 drive, 100MB
- Quantum, 525MB 1/4" cartridge tape drive, and a 44MB Syquest. In addition, I
- have a Toaster, DCTV, Epson scanner, ASquared LIVE, and a 2065 Ethernet card
- all hooked up and working very happily with the Zeus. Hard drive transfer
- rates are MUCH faster (device dependant) but I never checked access times. I
- would expect them to be the same since they are really more dependant on the
- HD rather than the interface. All software that is 68040 friendly works fine.
- There are still a few programs and utlities that I use that I must disable
- the writeback cache mechanism (the most annoying of which are CED and view3.2
- since I use them constantly). Did it all work the first time? Well no, but I
- was a beta tester so that is kind of understandable. The main problems I
- encountered were with getting all the SCSI devices to talk happily together.
- While it did require a ROM change I think the main problem was cold solder
- joints on an early piece of hardware. And as you may have guessed, I was
- pretty hard on the board in terms of various drives and peripherals. But if
- you buy one today, I think you will find it to be quit trouble free. I used
- the Zeus to render my latest 3D animated film which required 4 months of
- continuous rendering without the machine going down. It was very stable.

- This seems fairly reasonable but I haven't checked lately.
-

-
- I am nearly 100% certain you can but I have not done it. Check with PPS.

- Thats what I am running.

-
- Shouldn't be a problem but it will definitely be much slower than the
- 32bit RAM on the card. I'd sell the SupraRAM and install more SIMMs on
- the Zeus.
