- I'm interested in hearing some feedback from some lucky A4000 owners out there.
- My main interest is in the AGA performance in 8-bit mode. I've been able to
- play with a 4000 on several occasions, but have not explored this function
- thuroughly (I spent most of my time in ADPro checking out HAM8 imaging...
- incredibly nice).
-
- What is the feedback like when in a standard 13" mode like 640x480 (the 480
- is important because I get endlessly annoyed at squashed looking display).
- And comparisons with a like Mac display would be appreciated as well. And
- please no morons just saying that one is faster than the other. I'd like
- to hear some serious comparisons.
-
- Also, I seem to remember hearing rumors that you can expand the chipmem
- to past 2M around the time the A4000 was introed. I even remember a post
- sent out by someone who had bought one of the first A4000s, took it home,
- pulled it apart to gaze at the motherboard and saw sockets for more
- Chipmem. None of C='s publicity material or the mag reviews have said
- anything about being able to go past 2M. What's the real scoop? I don't
- think the local dealer is gonna let me rip one apart and I'm not EVEN going
- to entertain the notion that the dealer would know.
-
- And if you have any nerdy info like pixel drawing speed or the speed of
- the data bus to the AGA, I wouldn't mind hearing this as well. I already
- know I want an A4000, but I'm going to have to wait a bit longer to get
- it. So in the meantime any info that I can get from actual users would
- be most appreciated. All the magazines have proven is that they can
- read the A4000 info sheet that was passed out at the Pasadena show :(
- So much for in-depth, technical journalism.
