- Gentle folk,
-
- Here's an updated summary of responses to my recent posting:
-
- me>I am interested in getting a graphics tablet for my Amiga.
- me>I would greatly appreciate it if people using tablets would
- me>send me e'mail describing what they are using and how well it works.
- me>I'll post a summary.
-
- Three of the four responses were from the U.S.
-
- A correspondant in Germany recommends the 12"x12" 'Protheus' tablet,
- which he has used for three years.
- It includes 'Gadgets' on the tablet which can emulate choosing a menu,
- pressing a key, clicking the mouse, starting an arexx script or entering
- a complete string. It can be configured for DPaint 3 & 4, PPage, PDraw,
- PageStream, Modeler3d, Reflections, Turbo Silver and other software.
- For information call MacSoft Amiga Shop, +49 231 161817.
-
- One site has used the small (~$250) Wiz tablet for about a year.
- It works great for tracing but has no provision for overlays.
- Its configuration program lets you set the density, work-space size,
- reprogram the buttons etc and save different settings into multiple
- configuration files. A recent software upgrade is supposed to fix
- problems with overscan screens.
-
- Another person reports that he had a lot of problems with a Dakota
- tablet, and was unable to get them resolved. He highly recommends
- Summagraphics tablets (1-800-729-7866, 203-881-5400 for tech.info)
-
- A fourth person reports that although Summa tablets have long been
- favorites, the pressure sensitive Wacom tablet is fast becoming the new
- "king of the hill". Unfortunately, only OpalVision is reported to support
- variable pen pressure.

-
- I hope to be able to include model numbers and approximate prices
- in a future update.
-
- I found Wacom's address mentioned in two recent (Nov&Dec) issues of
- AV/Video, an industrial multimedia magazine. For some reason, AmigaWorld
- didn't bother to mention Wacom's address in their recent OpalVision review.
- From what I've seen of it, AV/Video seems to have an unusually
- well balenced coverage of video related equipment, including
- Macs, PCs and Amigas.
