- Well I won last night as Chieftain (stayed up until 3:00 a.m.
- and my baby woke up at 5:00 a.m.). I got lucky in that I started
- with two settler units. The first site I picked was pretty bad
- and that city (Peking) never seemed to prosper (10,000) individuals only.
- But I located Shanghai near a river, a horse, and some fishing
- grounds and that became my major city from which I built everything.
- I met the Aztecs early but killed them when I broke the peace
- treaty.

- I ran despotism and then monarchy and had only 5 tribes, that
- I wiped out in 1840 or so. I found that if you don't pillage
- the villages you get all their stuff. My husband hasn't wiped
- out everyone yet because he's too much into pillaging! :-)
- He got a 1% rating (that means he beat Dan Quayle)...
- He also ran democracy and had to make peace with this group
- he wanted to crush because the democracy voted that way...

- I'm going to try the next one up from chieftain too. However I
- gotta get some sleep... yawn.

- Hm... I made peace treaties and then broke them when I got stronger.
- I also found that the cities I conquered were all busy making diplomats.
- I didn't find much use for diplomats. Instead I made catapults and
- chariots. Catapults are pretty strong for taking down cities.

- I didn't meet the Mongols. But I'll try the 7 player game and see.
- Thanks for the suggestions.
-
- Happy conquering!
