- I dunno, but I am interested also, as I am new to the game too.

- I guess I was lucky, my first game I did the same thing, and did not
- get attacked until I built my second militia (which survived the nasty
- barbarians...

- I find this VERY frustrating also, I mean who wrote this port anyway!
- I am thinking of setting it up to save to floppy first as well,
- because it is such a space hog!
-
- My first game I won without ever changing the type of government,
- ran anarchy all the way up to 2030 when I finally wiped out the last
- other civilization. There were 7, and it was at chieftain level.
- I had only just developed flight, and tanks. Most of my army was
- muskets and cannons, with an ironclad or two for fun.
-
- I am in my second game, playing as warlord now. It is 1850, and I
- have cannons, muskets, atomic power, electronics, flight, and I am
- bullying the chinese with chariots...
-
- I traded with everyone early on, then did a sweeping attack to take
- out the most advanced neighbors.
-
- In both games it helped to surround opponent's cities with defensive
- units while at peace, and just remain that way: at peace, surrounding
- the opponent. It slows down even the mongol's growth, while you can
- expand. You don't have to occupy every square, just every other one.
