-
- Amiga format tested it and gave it two reviews:
- one for the A500 at 50% (basically: don't buy)
- one for the A1200 it had 88%, very good mark, would have been perfect score if
- it took advantage of the AGA chip set for 256 colors.
-
- I tried it, I was very please with it, so I mail-ordered it...
- quick impressions from a quick try:
- - takes only 2.5 megs on your HD instead of the 10+megs of the PC version.
- - super fluid on my A500 with 68030 (GVP A530)
- - all the gameplay is there (ennemy intelligence). This is definitely THE good
- point of WC and it is all here, hurra!
- - seems better programmed than the PC version (no bugs, steady operation, seems
- based on real time instead of the hacky way the PC version handled it (you had
- to manually set the frame rate)
-
- minor drawbacks:
- - ugly dithering in the "slideshow" part (much uglier than the ugly demo!!!)
- Was it to make it fit on 3 disks???
- The combats vessels are also dithered but this is not very important during
- combat, you manage very well to see where the ennemi vessel is heading.
- - I didnt find in my (too) quick try if you could play with an analogue
- joystick? is it possible?
-
- So this game is GOOD!!! Do not buy it if you have only a 68000, though....
-
- What I plan is to write mindscape to praise their port, such good work must be
- encouraged (and must persuade them to release WCII in an AGA version, too?)
