- That depends on the author. I know when I'm writing software that
- people aren't paying for, "don't want" definitely equals "won't
- do".

- My own limited experience is that some comms programs will always
- strip Esc sequences and so on, even when you don't want them to.
- Even to the extent of stripping out Tabs.
