  18.     That depends on the author. I know when I'm writing software that
  19.     people aren't paying for, "don't want" definitely equals "won't
  20.     do".

  22.     My own limited experience is that some comms programs will always
  23.     strip Esc sequences and so on, even when you don't want them to.
  24.     Even to the extent of stripping out Tabs.
