- What?? I've been running AmigaUUCP between my A2500 and several
- versions of Unix on PC's, Unix boxes and Macs and never had to turn off
- V.42bis compression. I achieve rates of around 1400 cps with these
- connections. Some systems only achieve 650cps but none of thier
- parameters are tuned correctly such as packet size and window size.
- It's quite simple to up your cps substantially by chaning your packet
- size to say 512 byte packets and dropping your window down to around 4.
- this raised a cps rate between my Amiga and a PC running Waffle from
- around 750 cps to 1350 cps in one adjustment.
-
- Some implementations of UUCP on Unix boxes don't allow adjustment of
- these parameters and SCO Unix is prone to problems with uucico
- adjustments. I seem to remember someone running SCO connected to me
- that couldn't adjust these parameters.
