  33. What??  I've been running AmigaUUCP between my A2500 and several
  34. versions of Unix on PC's, Unix boxes and Macs and never had to turn off
  35. V.42bis compression.  I achieve rates of around 1400 cps with these
  36. connections.  Some systems only achieve 650cps but none of thier
  37. parameters are tuned correctly such as packet size and window size.
  38. It's quite simple to up your cps substantially by chaning your packet
  39. size to say 512 byte packets and dropping your window down to around 4.
  40. this raised a cps rate between my Amiga and a PC running Waffle from
  41. around 750 cps to 1350 cps in one adjustment.

  43. Some implementations of UUCP on Unix boxes don't allow adjustment of
  44. these parameters and SCO Unix is prone to problems with uucico
  45. adjustments.  I seem to remember someone running SCO connected to me
  46. that couldn't adjust these parameters.
