- Hey, am I the only one that got his Supra working fine right out of the
- box?
- Usually I'm not that lucky...
-
- The fact is: I bought a Supra v32bis faxmodem by mail order (ordered it
- from a US company from Europe - quite risky). I *never* had the slightest
- problem! Connects reliably at 14400, never looses carrier, even when the
- line
- is very noisy (other than the US Robotics I've installed at work, because
- I insisted to buy a "brand with reputation") and throughput is high.
- (When downloading *compressed* files from a BBS 100 miles away with 9600
- bps
- and MNP5 (all they offer) I constantly get between 1000 and 1050 cps which
- I think is very good.)
-
- The only problem I had: The modem was shipped with a 110V power adapter.
- I tried to replace it by a 220V unit: No chance, all data was garbled.
- Now I use it with the original 110V adapter and a _big_ 220V to 110V
- transformer. Obviously the modem is *very* vulnerable to fluctuations of
- the AC power - might it be that THIS is your problem?
-
- I must mention that I'm using the modem only to place calls, never tried it
-
- in answering mode.
