- Hello Netters and Happy New Year!
-
- I am currently attempting to set up Video Director with
- my newly bought VCR. It is a Hitachi VT-F462a. One major problem is that
- the infrared device is not working with the VCR. The
- learn program indicates that it got a sample when I held
- the remote up to the infrared thing. It would appear this
- remote control is not compatible with Video Director. I tried
- many many times yesterday to try to get this to work.
- I have successfully used Video Director with an older
- VCR made by RCA; so I do know that remote control feature
- of Video Director does work.
-
- But this VCR supports some kind of protocol for doing video
- dubbing. The manual refers to a synchro-edit cable between
- compatible VCR's. This protocol is not the LANC protocol. I have not been
- able to find anything in the VCR manual indicating what the protocol is.
- There are some input jacks on the VCR
- about the size of a headphone jack for doing the video dubbing.
- The LANC connector that came with Video Director does fit in this jack.
-
- The manual for Video Director said more video devices and
- protocols would be supported by driver updates. I sent
- my in registration card a few months when I purchased the
- Video Director package. I have not heard anything from
- Gold Disk about any new drivers.
-
- So is there a Gold Disk BBS which might have some drivers on
- it for my VCR? Has anyone written a driver for this make
- of VCR?
-
- I will try to contact Hitachi and hopefully get some info
- on how this protocol possibly works. Writing a driver for
- Video Direcotor is bit out of my league.
-
- I am using Video Director Version 1.05.
-
- I wonder if any of the authors of Video Director might be on
- the net and see this post.
-
- I appreciate whatever help and advice that I might receive.
