- I've tried both programs on an A4000. I don't like the user interface
- for BackUP very much. It doesn't allow you to enter the directory to be
- backed up, but instead requires you to enter a volume. You don't have to
- back up then entire volume, you can select/deselect what you wish, but
- having to read a large disk volume only to deselect everything and start
- over is a pain. I tried backing up a directory with 2.7M in it to HD floppy
- with compression turned on. After about 10-15 minutes I got tired of waiting
- and turned the machine off.
-
- I tried an older version of ABackup when I had my 2500. Even then I was
- impressed with the program until I fed it a bad floppy and it aborted a fairly
- long dump. Supposedly the new version will recover from such problems. I don't
- know ... it doesn't run under AmigaDOS 3.0. Hopefully the author will fix that
- soon as I basically like this program.
