- Keywords: Which emacs to use on my A2000
-
-
- about 4 months ago I began using Gnu Emacs v18.58 at work. After
- using it 5 days a week, 8 hours a day for 4 months I've come to
- realize that this is the one TRUE editor :^). Well maybe not but
- emacs is pretty good.
-
- I used to use QED (which is a great editor) on my amiga but, being
- a simpleton, I'm now finding it difficult switching between editors.
- I tried using MEmacs (it comes with WB2.0) but it just doesn't cut it -
- I need to be able to redefine all of the keys _including_ the default
- bindings...
-
- Anyways, I got ahold of a FAQ that lists a variety of different emacs
- implementations and what machines these implementations run on but
- I don't know which one to try. I'm interested in hearing about what
- version of emacs your running on your amiga (and how your amiga is
- configured).
-
- my minimum requirements for an implementation of emacs:
- ---------------------------------------------------------
- I need to be able to use the same keymap as comes standard with
- Gnu emacs v18.58!
- ---------------------------------------------------------
-
- Optional
- ----------
- If it doesn't have file completion (most likely) than it would be
- nice to have the option of using a file requester.
-
-
- My configuration
- ----------------------
- A2000 (68000 cpu)
- 5 megs RAM
- 40 meg HD
- ----------------------
-
- Ideally, I'd like to be able to FTP a working executable and not
- have to bother with building it myself.
-
- So how about it.
