  15.   Available via anonymous ftp is version 1.11 of KingFisher, fixing all
  16.   known problems relating to the name index and also taking care of the
  17.   problems relating to systems with oversized or A2024 displays via the
  18.   use of the 2.0 Display Database.

  20.   General overview of KingFisher:

  22.   KingFisher is a freely distributable replacement for Aquarium, providing
  23.   a mechanism to search for software in Fred Fish's Library of Freely
  24.   Distributable Software.  KingFisher has been designed for users of both
  25.   floppy-only and harddisks systems operating under either Kickstart 1.3
  26.   or Kickstart 2.0.  Some features are available only under Kickstart 2.0.

  28.   KingFisher v1.11 offers the following features:

  30.   - Maintains a split database across multiple disk volumes,
  31.   - Searches this database more than 3 times faster than Aquarium,
  32.   + Provides a small and very fast program name search index,
  33.   - Adds new fish directly from Contents files or Usenet postings,
  34.     even from multiple concatenated postings or email contents files,
  35.   - Fish can be deleted from the end of the database to undo errors,
  36.   - Database is a line-oriented text file accessed through index
  37.     which can be modified by hand and then reindexed,
  38.   - Flexible print and export functions, including search-filtered
  39.     output,
  40.   - Select from multiple different search strings,
  41.   - Limit searches to a portion of the database,
  42.   - Follow version links to older or newer versions of software,
  43.   - Maintain multiple different "bookmarks" into the database and
  44.     switch between them with a single mouse click,
  45.   - Supports proportional and scalable fonts for description text,
  46.   + Now supports the 2.0 display database including Text Overscan.
  47.     Limited support for overscan, PAL, and interlace displays is
  48.     available under 1.3.
  49.   - String gadgets are optionally kept active for keyboard comfort,
  50.   - Full configuration saved between executions,
  51.   - Iconifies to save Chip RAM (46K).

  53. This update to the original version 1.0 and 1.1 does not include a
  54. database.  To obtain the database and complete program documentation, too,
  55. you must obtain a file named KingFisher.lha which is 477691 bytes in size.
