- Well, it looks like a few threads have started up that are
- cross-posted between comp.sys.amiga.misc and comp.sys.amiga.advocacy.
- This results in a lot of noisy .advocacy posts being placed in .misc,
- and is generally very annoying to .misc readers who are looking for
- the more informational posts. The whole purpose of .advocacy is to
- remove those posts from other groups, not to promote them.
-
- So, if you can help it, don't cross-post between comp.sys.amiga.misc
- and comp.sys.amiga.advocacy. If you follow up to a cross-posted
- message, your message will also be cross-posted, so make sure you
- check the header and remove extra groups from the Newsgroups: line.
-
- If you really _must_ cross-post, specify a single group to follow up
- to. To do this, put the following line in your header:
-
- Followup-To: comp.sys.amiga.advocacy
-
- This way, when people follow up to you, they'll do it to just that one
- group.
-
- Late last Summer, this problem cropped up. I managed to stop it by
- sending a note to every single person who cross-posted. I'm willing
- to do this again, but I would like a volunteer to take over for me.
- After all, I did it last time. It took about three weeks.
-
- If you would like to help out, just send me e-mail. I'll give you the
- note, and you can send it out instead of me.
