- on-the-phosphor, on a small planet in an obscure arm of a medium sized
- galaxy.......
-
- The networks hums across the planet, full of bits headed toward the Finkel
- and other byte buckets, because the name "Marc Barrett" appears in the from
- address....
-
- Another Barrett, Dan, lets loose a flood of "I am NOT Marc Barrett!"
- messages, and dozens of responses, full of ill-cheer, speed their way
- across he surface of the planet, decrying the latest Marc Barrett posting.
-
- Me, I'm wondering if Marc might not be a descendant of P.D.Q. Bach..... I
- almost look FORWARD to new Marc Barret posts, just to see what new depths
- he's reached. The latest, with the "what a -real- multimedia computer is"
- is silly Philips, under the brand names "Magnavox" and "Headstart" or
- Head-something, USED to sell IBM PC compatibles, USED to. Philips even had
- a CD-ROM drive built into its machines, many months ago. But Philips
- pulled out of not only IBM PC compatibles with CD-ROM drives built in, but
- the entire IBM PC compatible computer market! Philips just couldn't
- compete with the rest of the companies producing MS-D/Microsoft
- Windows/OS/2 computers, and dropped completely out of the market. Philips
- still makes CD-ROM drives -- after all, Philips invented the things with
- Sony! --, and makes CD-I machines, which are NOT using a 32 bit
- microprocessor (the chip is a 16 bit chip they're using).
