  24. So, I looked up the letter, as I said I would.  The letter included
  25. the following phrase:

  27. :        DataTAX for Canada is no more. I had tried to find someone to
  28. :take it over over but it was not to be.  Datatax users will receive a
  29. :letter and a special upgrade offer to Quick Returns by Ontek, which is
  30. :unfortunately a PC DOS product.  dataTAX/USA will be available in
  31. :January from OXXI, who will be sending letters to US customers in
  32. :early January.

  34. Now, you usually post from the USA, so I'm going to assume that
  35. the USA information pertains to you.  (And you never mentioned looking for
  36. a Canadian tax prep software program in your initial posting)

  38. The phrase 'dataTAX/USA will be available in January from OXXI'
  39. implies that:

  41. 1) The dataTAX software for the USA will be available in 1993
  42. 2) OXXI has taken over the dataTAX/USA software
  43. 3) If you believe that dataTAX is a good piece of tax preparation
  44.    software, then there is a good piece of tax preparation software
  45.    available for the Amiga.

  48. So, if your goal was to find good tax preparation software for the
  49. Amiga...no problem;  you can buy it from Oxxi.  In fact, if you actually
  50. do put your money where your mouth is, and buy the software,
  51. and enough others buy it so the product makes money, then the product
  52. will be a success, and others might enter the market.

  54. Of course, if your intention was merely to flame, and you had
  55. no intention of every purchasing the program;  well, having Oxxi
  56. distribute dataTAX/USA probably should interfere with that.

  59. The other issues you want to drag in (whether the dataTAX people 
  60. want to continue in the Amiga market) are side issues to the main
  61. question you asserted you were asking, which was "Is there a tax prep
  62. program available for the Amiga".
