-
- I have just received my HP LASERJET 4M. There are (as before) 4 SIMM slots.
- The Manual states that you can add an extra 32 MB, except in the case of a
- 4M where you can only add an extra 16MB - This would be 2 * 8MB. The manual
- further states theat the 4M has 6MB installed.
- Point is :- With 4 SIMM slots, 1 occupied by the included 4MB and ONE by the
- PS interpretter, this makes simple sense. BUT, I have ONE occupied by the 4MB
- included and TWO occupied by "wide" SIMMs. The middle of these 3 is clearly
- stamped all over with ADOBE, the other large SIMM is not obvious. I presume
- that TWO SIMMs have been used for PS, why (even allowing it's now PS level
- 2) when only one was needed for L-j IIISi and now we have 8MB SIMM capacity.
-
- In summary, I can only add 8MB (not 16), or 12 if I scrap the existing 4MB
- SIMM and replace it by an 8MB also.
- Further, I seem to remember extra emulations were available AS SIMMs, with
- PS using 2 this would even more restrict, (particularly as there is only one
- Cartridge slot) the "mental" expansion of the printer.
-
- Have I got a "pre-release" and now it only needs 1 SIMM (as it should be),
- Is the manual wide of the mark.
- Is the other "SIMM" something else, if so, what (Some sort of Co-Pro. maybe??)
-
-
- P.S.S what does "Upgraded to C2021A, 4892" imply????
