- You know, it just occurred to me to mention this...

- When DEC first created the 32-bit VAX, it also ran PDP-11 16-bit
- programs, to offer upward compatibility. Well, it seems that in the
- early versions of VMS, many of the system accounting and utility
- functions were written in PDP-11 code. Does this means that VMS
- wasn't a fully 32-bit system?

- When the MicroVAX first appeared without PDP-11 compatibility mode,
- DEC finally rewrote those PDP-11 utilities as native 32 bit programs,
- because they *had* to.
