  23. Microsoft added features to AT&T Version 7 UNIX (record locking) and sold
  24. the product under the name Xenix (at that time vendors could not use the
  25. name UNIX in thier product name).  This was a product of MS BEFORE  the PC
  26. and before DOS.  Microsoft sold this in "source" form to various hardware
  27. vendors (Altos, Radio Shack, ...).  SCO came along several years later,
  28. bought the "source" form and resold binaries.  A real cash cow for MS.

  30. In 1989 (?) AT&T said if you meet certian standards, you could use the name
  31. UNIX in the product name.  Amoung those standards were System V compliant.
  32. SCO switched to UNIX and announced they would no longer update Xenix.
