- Okay! It's been a long time since we've had OS/2 advocacy in this OS/2
- *.advocacy newsgroup... ;-)

- >CPU with 4 megabytes of memory and 30 megabytes hard disk space. To order,
- >call 1-800-3IBMOS2. Product names are trademarks of their respective owners."
-
- I like the fade-out part. In addition, how about having an increase of
- voices as well instead of just one voice (multi-tasking metaphore). As
- one voice finishes saying the name of an app, another voice starts to say
- the name of another app (time-slicing metaphore). Maybe one voice for DOS
- apps, one for Windows apps, and one for OS/2 apps. Then a fourth voice can
- speak in the foreground.

-
- I prefer the Souvenir font (which is available at ftp-os2). The intro would
- use that white-on-black color scheme, and names of the apps would be color-
- coded with no space between the name of the apps.
-
- For the second page, how about a screen shot of OS/2 running apps in
- their own windows?
-
- >What is something you can come up with?
-
- How about this for a TV ad?
-
- First scene:
- Start out with a black background.
- A picture of a powerful object (like a body-builder or a tank or
- something) that takes 1/4 the screen area pops up on the screen. Then
- 3 other pictures of other powerful objects pop up (similar to OS/2's
- animation OFF), one at a time, so that the result looks like cascaded
- windows. Then each picture moves (similar to OS/2's animation ON) into
- their own corner so that the result looks like tiled windows, and the
- black background cannot be seen. A voice says ``Power''. The screen
- clears to a black background.
-
- Second scene:
- A picture of a fast object (like a jet or a race-car) pops up on the
- screen, the three other pictures of other fast objects cascade onto the
- first picture. Then each picture tiles itself into a screen corner. A
- voice says ``Speed''. The screen clears to black.
-
- Third scene:
- A picture of a DOS app pops up on the screen, followed by a cascade
- of a Windows app, an OS/2 1.x app, and an OS/2 2.x app. Each "picture"
- is actually a window running that app, just like in OS/2. Then each
- picture tiles itself into a screen corner (again, using animation ON).
- A voice says ``OS/2''. But the screen does *not* clear; the apps stay
- on the screen. Note that the black background cannot be seen.
-
- Fourth scene:
- The four pictures move themselves to various parts of the screen. As
- they do this, instead of seeing a black background where the pictures
- were, the WPS and some icons can be seen (like when moving an OS/2 window).
- Then the camera zooms out and you can see someone using OS/2 2.x running
- DOS, Windows, OS/2 1.x, and OS/2 2.x apps.
-
-
-
- Here's an idea for a print ad:
- The top view of a trash can with a copy of DOS and a copy of Windows
- inside it. ;-)
