  24. 'fraid it is true ... well almost ... novell are buying AT&Ts 75% share
  25. of USL. of course the question is, why are AT&T selling? ... the
  26. answer's simple ... people were complaining that one of the potential
  27. players in the workstation market was controlling the operating system!
  28. hence AT&T were selling before someone like the FTC investigated.

  30. also FYI, the "office of fair trading", the UK equivalent to the FTC
  31. (i think), is to investigate the commercial practices of MicroSoft(UK).
  32. they've had complaints from pc retailers here which, i assume, are similar
  33. to the US ones that you have to put MS-DOS on all machines sold to
  34. get discounts on the software.
