- MCI was wasn't really the biggest factor that everyone thinks they were in the
- breakup of AT&T. AT&T wanted to get into computers. The FTC would not let
- them get serious about it until they promised to give up their local control
- of the phone system and become a different, slimmed down kind of company.
- True, MCI was a factor, but AT&T's own goals were a bigger one. (Much like MS
- in that regard)
