  27. No, the hardware vendors do this because 90% of the potential
  28. buyers (including me) won't buy the machine if I have to go out
  29. and buy DOS and Windows separately: it would be more expensive
  30. and much more of a hastle that way, and I won't put up with
  31. it.

  33. Besides, you don't know that you are paying more for it. The amount
  34. of money the hardware company saves by installing the exact same
  35. system on each machine may make up for the small cost of the
  36. software itself.

  38. If you want a machine that you can install the OS on yourself,
  39. by the pieces and put together your own machine, then install
  40. your own OS.
