- I encountered a nasty problem, I blew GEOWORKS has gone south and it
- no longer works on my system. I don't have a clue what may be the
- problem! I was messing around making some more backgrounds and
- installing aditional fonts. When I reloaded geos, the world screen in
- the desktop was empty. I exited geos and listed the directory, all the
- programs were present and accounted for. Reexecuting geos, showed
- icons back on the desktop but when I attempt to launch them it reports
- that it cannot find the resource manager or file.
-
- Thinking something got clobbered, I reinstalled geos - same problem.
- Finally went to bed to sleep on the problem. This morning, I ran
- spinrite to make sure that the HD was acting ok and all is well. ran
- geos - same symptoms. Decided to reload one more time but deleted
- geos.ini to start anew. Reloaded, ran geos saw icons able to open
- geowrite but cannot run another application. Exit geowrite, reenter it
- and it says that it cannot write the untitled file. GEOS thinks disk
- may be bad - spinrite reports all is well. Hands off for now since I
- had to go to work.
-
- When I get time, I am going to move the geoworks directory off my C
- drive to my D Drive, erase all evidence of geos and reload the C
- drive. Are there any other suggestions? I am fairly certain that I
- didn't mess around with anything other than backgrounds and fonts. The
- only thing I did in DOS was add another directory to my path and
- dowmload Graphics Workshop. I have been using geos on my PC since V1
- and have had no problems at all!
