- Several times in the past year I've bought a 'MPC' product, only
- to have it puke like a dog when I ran it under Windoze. It seems
- that most current MPC stuff will not multitask, (requires the
- CPUs complete attention) but more and more are trying to earn
- that spiffy MPC logo. Most recently, Broderbund's "Just Grandma
- and Me", and the MPC magazine "Nautilus". Although they seemed
- like fine products, they become extreemly flakey under the alleged
- OS above. When I call the publisher for help, or to complain,
- they always blame Win3.1 or some driver WIN needs, that I must not
- have. It's not their fault. Yea right.
-
- Well, I would LOVE to use this oportunity to extol the virutes of
- GeoWorks* Multimedia, but I CAN'T!!!! The publisher and I just sigh,
- and agree that WIN is a poor choice, but the only one.
-
- So, does anyone know if its posible to include multimedia hooks
- in the Geos kernal, or are they expecting it to be a third party
- application. (doesn't the MAC system7 have sound built in?)
- Integrated sound and high-end video is the ONLY reason I still
- have WIN3.1 infesting my hard drive, applications like Broderbund's
- or some of the new EBook stuff (12 roads to Gettysburg) are just too
- good to pass up. If Geos ignores multimedia, it may as well stay
- on a pen-pc.
-
- * Whenever I talk to a software publisher, I ask when the Geos
- versions of (use your imagination) will be availible. Come on SDK!!

- Disclaimer: nobody pays me to rant.
