  10. Ok, I'm tired of fighting with this, and so I'm going to post about
  11. it, and hope somebody has an idea..  Please mail me and post your
  12. replies, for it seems I don't get everything in this newsgroup (have
  13. to talk to my feed about that..)

  15. Basically, here's what I've got:

  17. DVX, v1.02 (picked it up at Interop)
  18. MS Windows 3.1
  19. Microsoft Windows Sound System (this is not the PC speaker stuff)
  20. ATI Wonder+, with 1meg of ram; am using 800x600x16 Win31 driver. (DVX
  21. doesn't like the ATI 800x600x256 color driver :-(
  22. Noname clone 386/25 w/387; has 8megs of ram; AMI BIOS, dated 7/7/91
  23. 105 meg Quantum IDE/hd
  24. MS-DOS 5.0

  26. Here's what it's doing:

  28. When I go into windows, using QEMM as the memory manager, and use the
  29. MS Sound System, I can play sounds, I can record sounds, but it will
  30. eventually lock up the system on me.  I've tried in standard mode,
  31. I've tried enhanced.  The only way I've been able to get it to work,
  32. is to use himem.sys and no other memory management.  This occurs no
  33. matter what mode (standard vs enhanced).  (I just noticed that it runs
  34. longer in standard mode, but it still locks up and dies.)  This is all
  35. with the Microsoft software; it could the that part, and not the sound
  36. driver it self..

  38. BUT, at least, I get sound that you can understand when using it
  39. outside of DVX.  Now, when I try to run Windows under DVX (winx or
  40. full screen win31), HA! You get total garbage out of the speakers. 
  41. DVX will let you run Windows, but boy, it's tiring to hear the garbage
  42. coming out the speakers.  I have read, and tried the white pages on
  43. what to do on debugging this problem, and have only been able to delay
  44. the lock ups..

  73. I have removed all of the LAN stuff, and it still locks up (including
  74. removing the 3c507)

  76. So, any ideas on what to try, other than take it back?  I'd like to at
  77. least get it to work under Windows31 outside of DVX reliably..
