- I've been running some experiments in order to try to pin this down a
- bit closer.
-
- With DV/X, Motif, my usual config.sys and autoexec.bat, "vmm on n" in
- dos4gx.cfg, no files are left open if I start up DV/X and quit
- immediately.
-
- With DV/X, Motif, my usual config.sys and autoexec.bat, "vmm on y" in
- dos4gx.cfg, DVXS0 and DOS4GVM.SWP are left open if I start up DV/X and
- quit immediately.
-
- With DV/X, DWM, my usual config.sys and autoexec.bat, "vmm on y" in
- dos4gx.cfg, no files are left open if I start up DV/X and quit
- immediately.
-
- I then made a config.sys consisting of the following two lines only:
-
- device=c:\qemm\qemm386.sys r:1 ram x=fe00-ffff i=0800-0fff ST:M
- files=40
-
- and put it on a boot floppy with no autoexec.bat. Using this boot disc,
- with DV/X, Motif, "vmm on y" in dos4gx.cfg, DVXS0 and DOS4GVM.SWP are
- left open if I start up DV/X and quit immediately.
-
- There appears to be a problem when using the DOS4GX vmm switch and
- Motif. Looks like I am going to have to take Michael Bolton's
- suggestion and abandon Motif in favour of DWM after all. This is a pity
- - I bought Motif because I wanted to use it.
-
- Giles.
