  22. WHAT YOU GET WITH THESE BINARIES:
  23.  
  24. *.Notes files contain instructions for installing the binary release, and
  25. include step by step instruction of how I built the binary release from
  26. source.  This single file contains the name of the ftp site where I got the
  27. package, how I compiled it, and what patches were needed, if any.  IF YOU
  28. WANT TO COMPILE THE PACKAGE YOURSELF, THIS FILE IS ALL YOU NEED (after you
  29. get the original source distribution, of course).  If any patches were
  30. necessary, the *.Notes file can be fed directly to patch(1), without any
  31. editing.

  33. *.taz files are compressed tar archives contain binaries (linked with jump
  34. 4.1 libraries using gcc 2.2.2d7 (release version), and tested under Linux
  35. 0.99.1 with jump 4.2 libraries), man pages and/or info pages (if
  36. available), COPYING, README, etc. files from the original source
  37. distribution, and my:
  38. *.Notes file, described above
  39. *.Dist  file, which was used to built the *.taz file
  40. *.Unins file, which will uninstall most of the binary release (it leaves
  41.               /usr/src/* intact)
  42.  
  43. The *.taz format files are compatible with the SLS systinstall program,
  44. which can be used to install and uninstall the binary distributions.

  46. If you don't use the SLS program, the *.taz files are ready to 'gtar zpxvf'
  47. into /.

  87.     allow compressed cat pages to be used to build a whatis database.  The
  88.     bug fixes by Willem Kasdorp have been applied.  Please send me bug

  215. Each *.taz file is a compressed tar archive containing binaries, support
  216. files (including README, NEWS, and COPYING files from the FSF source), man
  217. pages (when available), and info pages (when available).  Linked with jump
  218. 4.1 libraries using gcc 2.2.2d (release version), and tested under Linux
  219. 0.98.pl4 and 0.98.pl5.  I've been using these binaries with 0.99.1 and jump
  220. 4.2 libraries without problems.
