- Linux will not boot in a virtual DOS machine. Linux is an operating system
- unto itself. By running a VDM you assume that DOS will be the Operating
- Control Platform, not Linux. Linux must be booted from its own partition.
- You can't run another whole operating system inside of another; the only
- reason why OS/2 runs virtual DOS sessions is that it was designed to be a
- "multi-user front-end for DOS & Windows apps."
-
- Linux, DOS and OS/2 will all boot from a single drive, and Linux can mount a
- DOS filesystem. Also, there are some emulators which allow you to run DOS
- programs from within Linux (although they aren't quite perfected yet, they
- are coming along nicely). Information concerning the usage of OS/2 and Linux
- Boot Partitions from the same device is available in the FAQ.
