  20. I have SLS 0.98pl5 from mid november and I encountered this problem at
  21. various times: first when recompiling the kerneel after a reinstall (new HD)
  22. and then when compiling xv 2.00.
  23. At first the problem seemed spurious but later it got to a point where I was 
  24. unable to compile even a single .c file.

  26. Out of desperation I reinstalled cpp and gcc from the installation disks
  27. (using sysinstall -remove 222d7b and then reinstalling the same files again).

  29. This fixed the problem.
