- ARC/INFO is not available on a Macintosh. A product called "ARCVIEW" is
- avaible for the Mac but it is a tool for the query and visualization
- of geographic data but is not a GIS like ARC/INFO.
-
- Personally, I don't think ESRI will put ARC/INFO on a Mac any time soon.
- And it's probably a good thing. Although ARC INFO is EXTREMELY powerful
- it's user interface is not well thought out (even on their 6.0 version),
- and the software is BUGGY AS HELL! I like the term a friend of mine has given
- to ARC/INFO. It's not user friendly...it's user-vindictive :-).
-
- The Macintosh interface is extremely difficult to program, and
- is also well developed and planned. I think ESRI would have to
- put too much effort into redesigning the whole user interface of
- ARC/INFO from the ground up in order for Mac users to appreciate it.
- Best to use it on a UNIX system or VAX in my opinion.
-
- You may wish, however, to check out ARC VIEW.
