- I made a similar, even if awkward request some time ago. Since then, with
- a little help from friends at ESRI managed to rework VPFDUMP into a useful,
- even if clunky tool to deal with the output of VPF lines from the EDG
- files to ARC INFO UNGEN-compatible vectors. I've since been able to output
- points and city names. I've had a bit of trouble with the hypsographic
- layers (non-supplemental) because they not only include the lines themselves,
- but the boxed areas where data was unavailable as well. Thus the result in
- a direct export is a file of contour lines mixed with squares of varying
- dimension which requires lots of editing. I haven't figured out how to access
- the
- .LFT (line feature table) as a "pointer" to use in extracting various user-
- defined data features. In extracting a multi-gridded area, such as HD31,HD32,
- and HD33, the line feature table pointers are unique to the particular grid
- only, thus the picking and choosing has to be accomplished at a very
- primitive level or the values of the pointers are rewritten by the following
- grid. Anyone else have these problems??
