- I have a question about USGS quads. I'm doing a spot elevation coverage for
- a GIS project (in ARC/INFO) and I've noticed many small numbers on the map
- printed in the same style as the control data markers (benchmarks, etc.).
- However, these numbers aren't accompanied by a square, triangle, or X to denote
- that it is indeed a control marker. However, I've noticed all of these numbers
- are near road intersections. Do these numbers denote the spot elevation of the
- middle of the intersection? Is this an accurate enough assumption to include
- them as spot elevations in my GIS?
-
- Thanks in advance!!
