- This posting is to clear up some misinformation I am responsible for. My
- appologies to the NET for the previous posting which made this one
- necessary.
-
- On December 22, my wife recieved her Eagle modem from Prodigy. I installed
- the modem and tested it by trying to connect to my employers V.32bis modem
- pool. When I was unsuccessful at this, I jumped to the conclusion that the
- Eagle didn't support V.32bis. Since the documentation and the modem face
- plate seemed to agree with me I didn't explore further.
-
- This resulted in my follow-up posting on December 23, to Ed Ravin, which is
- quoted above.
-
- Over the Christmas weekend, I played with the modem some more and verified
- that it really is V.32bis. I should have caught on when the modem began
- talking to the (supplied) communications software at 38400 baud.
-
- To make a long and embarassing story short, the V.32bis modems I was trying
- to connect to were configured wrong and wouldn't allow V.32bis when
- answering. They have been corrected and the Eagle talks to them happily.
-
- Even without the FAX capability, which I haven't tried yet, the Eagle
- appears to be a good modem at a great price (Prodigy's special offer).
-
- I can offer no excuses. Jumping to a conclusion so rapidly, on so little
- data, is not something I normally do. Nor, do I hope to make a habit of
- it.
