- hoping this answer will reach you from german Mausnet (I'd appreciate a short
- notice, IF it does). Your problem sounds like the one I had with a completely
- different configuration, but maybe there's one common reason:
- I used to download (yes, via Z-Modem or Y-Modem) the news of our local BBS on a
- regular basis, the incoming datafile thus always overwriting the old existing
- one. And, like in your mail, one day it just wouldn't work anymore, I then got
- the errormessage "...defective outfile...". I couldn't believe it to really be
- a defectiv file, esp. because filecopy, delete etc. all worked ok on operating
- system level. But- running a disk- scanning software ("cleanup") it found the
- clusters of just this outfile were messed up (=allocated to two different
- files), it corrected that prob, and from that day onwards download works again.
